"The number one reason members give for belonging to the EWGA is the friendships they have made and the networking opportunities shared among EWGA members. If a member relocates, she can connect with the local Chapter for a new circle of friends, new business contacts or perhaps even with members she has already met at previous Association events. Sharing fun, outdoor exercise and a golf game provide memorable and valued experiences."
The above quote was taken directly from the Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) website and is the foundation on which they have become the "Premier force for promoting women's golf". The EWGA is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1991, and has grown into a network of over 18,000 members in over 110 Chapters across 36 States, the District of Columbia, and Canada.
Based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida the EWGA has affiliated itself with companies such as, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Callaway Golf, Office Depot, Amazon.com, Wilson Sporting goods, and the PGA of America. Its tremendous influence in the golf market place stems from simple marketing analysis. More than 80 percent of EWGA members have collegiate degrees and, of these, 44 percent have graduate degrees, 84 percent are employed full-time and 51 percent are either business owners, senior management/executive level or in professional and/or technical professions. Sixty-four percent of EWGA members are "avid" golfers, playing 25 or more rounds/year. Twenty-nine percent are core golfers (8-24 rounds/yr.), seven percent are occasional golfers (1-7 rounds/yr.), and EWGA members spend an average of $2,663/year on their golf game (travel, apparel, equipment and lessons).
We believe that being a partner with the EWGA is a "win-win" for any business. The association focuses on new and active player clinics, mentoring, the "Rules and Etiquette" of the game, proper equipment seminars, player development, and the pursuit of golf for business. So while the EWGA focuses on the golf opportunities, its seemingly happy membership focuses on the networking and lifestyle opportunities.

PLAY GOLF AMERICA -- LINK UP 2 GOLF!
Two years ago the PGA of America realized that growth of active players had slowed to almost a complete stop and the entry of new players was almost non-existent. The newly elected president of the PGA, M.G. Orender, realized almost immediately that this problem would define his two year term as president. He quickly began to formulate what is now known as "Play Golf America", an initiative which involved every section of the PGA in the United States, including its golf professionals.
Under Mr. Orenders direction, the PGA of America embarked on an aggressive campaign to increase the participation among new and occasional golfers. Teamed as partners in this initiative, the PGA tour, the LPGA tour, the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and the USGA are working together to bring back infrequent players and introduce the game to people who have never had the enjoyment of a round of golf. The object is to reach-out to the 17 million potential "golfers" who have expressed a desire to play, and the 14 million occasional golfers that only play between one and seven times per year. The Play Golf America initiative consists of many programs from entry level etiquette instruction, to all aspects and levels of playing ability. Various events are sponsored at many facilities across the country. Everything from free lessons for the general public, to fully organized 3, 6, or 9 hole events in the evening. The program is taking hold and the largest enrollment thus far has been with women, families and juniors. "Link up 2 golf" is another component of this program that is designed to be an affordable, adult player development tool. It includes a free orientation to the game and eight hours of group instruction that incorporates on-course playing lessons, etiquette training for proper behavior and pace of play. It culminates in a four-hole scramble.
You can easily see how this PGA initiative works well with the Ready For Golf vision of building specifically designed golf courses, both targeted for the same group of people - our "average" golfer.
